Story

Celebrating 15 years of full-service interior design. Learn how my passion for crafting spaces, supported by a keen attention to detail, can elevate your life.

Story

I started my interior decorating business because I enjoy, for lack of a better term, embellishing.  Pleasant, inspiring, and well-designed spaces allow all of us to be happier and to accomplish more.  It is that simple.  My journey started with fixing up an old summer cottage my husband’s family owned and then renovating our 1930s center entry colonial.   Realizing how profoundly one’s surroundings affect mood and motivation, I was hooked.  At the end of our renovation our architect turned to me and said, “you should start your own business.”  I did.

Design Is A Passion

Design Is A Passion

I have a diverse background in office management, HR, and contract negotiations. These professional experiences have given me the skills needed to manage large projects and people to solve diverse and challenging problems.  In 2005, I started Embellishments, a full service interiors firm located originally in Lexington and now in Rockport, Massachusetts.  I rely on a team of professional subcontractors that I have successfully worked with for years.  I also coordinate with architects, contractors, and their teams.  Whether it is a new house, a large or small renovation, or designing new custom draperies, no project is too large or too small. While primarily focused on residential spaces, I also provide services for commercial and academic spaces, such as Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts.

Upgrading, enhancing, or designing a room should be a fun experience.  I work collaboratively with my clients to create spaces that they can’t wait to use.  All aspects of the project are considered and discussed thoroughly to make certain the end result is exactly what the homeowner wants.

People ask me what my style is. Personally, I like clean lines, layered textures, calming palettes with strategic pops of color, well placed lighting, and carefully curated art. Yet, I never forget that I am hired to embellish spaces for my clients, not for myself. I incorporate design elements that embrace your personal style preferences and the functional requirements of the room.

My passion in decorating is supported by a keen attention to balance and detail. My goal is to design rooms that fit perfectly into my clients’ lives.  I brought my photographer to a residential project site recently.  He walked in the house, looked around and asked, “what did you do here?”   I thought about that question and realized it was the perfect compliment.  When I can do work for clients that fits seamlessly into their surroundings and lifestyle than I have achieved my goal.

It was an honor to be selected for the Junior League of Boston 2017 Designer Show House in Belmont, Massachusetts.

Please give Embellishments a call when it’s time to make your own space special.
